“free to act on his hearts desire” love this line too, the key being ‘free’ I think you got the balance spot on - obligation/revenge/justice/honour etc. with a sense that he wants it over now, that this time is past and a new time is waiting for him. Who am I to argue? Bring on the new time! [quickly if you can, the bee’s role in this is intriguing me!]
