I have a hard time reading this because of the tense its in. It reads more like a narrative then a story. I can't connect emotionally with the characters or even the actions because it feels more like someone is doing a play by play.

Just.......WOW!
I mean, the training, and the protecting, and the wanting to please him, and him being proud, and throwing him across the room.....AND THEN...the kiss and the horrid timing and ..... and....and Carol! Ooooo that bitch!! Then his look of assurance, and healing her again....and the permanence and the touching thing...OH MY YES!!! The touching thing!!
