The Wolverine & Rogue Fanfiction Archive
Barely Legal Since 2000
Without a doubt, these last few paragraphs are the most beautiful and insightful interpretation of the iconic scene that is the core of this fandom and the reason I am still devoted to Logan after all these years and all the disappointing X-men movies later. Thank you!
Thank you for the great series. I enjoyed it tremendeously!
AMAZING!! I LOVE THIS!! Wow, what a ride! It followed the movie so well, that its almost like I should watch it again, just to see if I missed all of the obvious Rogan scenes! ahaha. A definite favorite. I really hope you continue this with the other movies. Until then, I am off to read some MORE of your Rogan fics. Much love to them. Very happy reader!
Seriously, this is brilliant. Believable sexual tension, really, really nice character development, a truly rogue Rogue... And I have to say that I'm really a big fan of the way you developed the minor characters. I got a sense of Kitty and St. John and even Jean and Senator Kelly that is almost unique in this ship. So well done to you. Kudos. An inspiration.
I'm a sucky reviewer of the first order. But this was damned beautiful. A work of art, Babe. I devoured it in one day and neglected motherly duties and wifely householdy things to finish. I was late to pick up my daughter from school because I got caught up in the second part of things. Thank you for so completely transfixing and fascinating me.

Author's Response: You're more than welcome, thanks for reading. :)
I'm really happy that you came back and finished this! What a great series this is. Too bad the movies didn't turn out like this--they would have been so much better! Please continue to write on this site because you are very talented and I'd love to read more of your work.
Well! All I have to say is Well Done! I had really lost the plot to this one, but a little back reading got me up to speed and the last chapter was brilliant. Please keep writing.
Good to see you back! Loved the ending!
"Marie may be better for Logan’s reputation as a badass than he is. Gonna have to rectify that." She really is, throughout this entire series.
I like your version better. If I had millions of dollars and a time machine I'd want X1 to turn out like this. Perfect blend of AU & movie moments. You even dodged the whole "me heart belongs to someone else" thing beautifully. I feel like I was exorcising my Jean issues while reading this. I didn't want to push her out of the jet....as much.
I've always liked your Marie in this series. I think I may have mentioned this in a previous review, but I really really appreciate the delicate balance between this sometime-borrowed sassy confidence from the renters in her brain & the almost naive insecurity of being seventeen. She's really a three-dimensional character here.
I'm so sad to see this end - it was a great ride. I hope you're not done with writing. Please come back soon!
"Her fall is months in coming." So true & something I kept thinking about throughout this entire (epic) series (although it's not as succinct in my brain because I'm not awesome like you).
The balance in this chapter is really nice. Starting out with the fractures in Marie's psyche & then ending with the old sassy Marie (w/ some Logan upgrades).
"In the spirit of getting fucking on with it, Logan doesn’t comment on the fact that it took three supposedly trained superheroes to dispatch one leap frog whose best weapon was his tongue, for shit’s sake." Thank you! That always bothered the shit out of me when I watched X1.
"And maybe, a piece down the road, neither of them paying too close attention, Logan would’ve given his life to Marie a different way." Oh I loved this. Love love loved how you wrote this last part, but especially this line.
"Or a suicide attempt, depending on how personally Magneto took that whole “go fuck yourself” thing." Genuinely lol-ed at this.
"
Tears drip pitifully from her chin. “Help.” She pushes the plea out onto a world that doesn’t care." I could really see this last part. Again, you're working in movie parts very nicely & seamlessly. Did you have to go back recently & keep re-watching parts of X1 to get the lines down?
“No, you’re the worst case scenario.” He really is.
"He was a little off, earlier. Xavier doesn’t have it in him to brainwash kids into soldiers, true, but evangelizing them into X-Men isn’t as different as the old man probably likes to think." Loved this line. There have been plenty of stories w/ the theme of Prof X manipulating kids to be X-Men one way or another, but I've never come across this particular view. I like it.
I totally dug the Annie reference too.
I'm also digging the action & how you went about incorporating Magneto's machine in your universe.
So so so so so glad you updated this. I'm breaking one of my rules & reading this on my work computer because I couldn't wait 12 hours. I figured I'd try & review every chapter too even though it's all done. On to the next one!
I've read this series a couple of times now & I don't know why I've not reviewed or added to my favorites. Well I'm fixing that because I am in love with this. There have been a lot of different takes on X1, but I have to say that the way you incorporated those scenes into your writing is effortless & brilliant. I'm pretty blown away that you can incorporate your own original slant w/ Southaven & Carol Danvers into X1 & what you've written before Logan & Marie meet up with the X-geeks.
I so love how this series is written too. The dialogue is very clever, especially Rogue's. I really appreciate how you've balanced out all of the intricacies of her personality considering she's so young, but has so many borrowed life experiences rattling around her brain.
This is something that I'll definitely come back & rad over again & again. I know it's been a while since the series has been updated, but if you do come back & add to it I will keel over from happiness.
Author's Response: I had plans to do all of X2 and X3, but I really wanted to do an X3/Origins-compliant fic so I started The Cure for Questions, and I also have this *other* fic set thirty years after the trilogy that has to do with the Legacy virus in mind...Too many plot-bunnies, not enough discipline to sit down and *write* already. Eventually I get things done. Eventually. But, for now, we're going to have to call this fic done. So glad you enjoy it enough for multiple reads. :D
This is a fantastic series. I've read it several times, and enjoy it just as much as the first read every time. I hope you do plan on continuing when you have time.
I just read the entire series of stories for Dark side of the moon. I really like it. Update as soon as you can :D
Please, oh please, continue this...
Wow; I'm really enjoying this series! I felt that that the movies made Rogue out to be a weak chit of a girl, but your retelling is definitely making that all better!
Will you be continuing this? I have just read all chapters and enjoyed it a lot. Especially your Rogue!
I love this series - and I hope you continue it soon. I cannot wait to see the rest of your take on X1!
Ah, continuation. There's nothing quite like it in storytelling. A truly wonderful start to another beautiful story. I'm looking forward to the rest more than I can say.
