Barely Legal Since 2000
I think that may have been my new favorite chapter. Thank you for giving substance and life to Jubilee. I had gotten in the bad habit of seeing her as one dimensional. Thank you.
~Mia
Author's Response: *whispers* I don't think this is the 'best' chapter, but I think it's my favorite too. I adore Jubes and she's been very helpful through the years, pulling my thoughts together for me. Thank you!
I really do love this interludes into other people's heads. It is a great change in perspective. The scene between Scott and Logan was classic. Scott drinking from the carton was just too much.
Author's Response: Thank you! I kinda liked the Scott scene myself...
How the hell do you do this? Write in Jubilee's POV and then bring in Scott to deliver the necessary life-lesson to Logan ('Five years ago, I wouldn’t listen to anyone, and I made the biggest mistake of my life. You got half the brain I think you do, you’ll learn from that.') and then end up with Logan and Rogue literally on the road to (potentially) happiness? Like Jubes said, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. Thank God you can. Bring on the fireworks! --Wendie
Author's Response: Jubilee has a way of making herself heard, that's all. Fireworks, ahoy!
oooo it started out good, are they gonna end up together? theyshould
Oh Marie, some day you are going to have to deal with what happened to you.
Please tell me there is more.
Author's Response: Some day she is, yes. And there is more.
Wow. Just when you think it's going to get better for these two, in a quick sort of way, it only gets more complicated and angsty. You know what, though? This way actually makes a lot of sense. The poor kid has spent half her life a parasite and suddenly she finds out she can touch one other human being. You don't just jump on the guy. It scares you to death because in an instant everything is different. Perfectly written. Very well done.
Author's Response: I agree. More complicated, right? Which has nothing to do, of course, with the fact that I like writing the complications. ;) You got exactly where I was going here. Thanks.
wow this was so emotional and heartfelt. I loved it.
Author's Response: Thank you! This was a tough one to write.
Awwwwwwww. :( I didn't see this coming at all! I figured it was just how hurt she was, too. I loved it, can't wait for more!
Author's Response: I aim to keep you guessing, at least a little bit. ;) More up now!
Wow. Im wishing it would go so many different ways. But this is appealing to me in a way that I cannot stop reading. :D
Author's Response: Well, keep reading! Please!
First off: thank you. Thanks for taking such a wealth of time and care with your characters and settings and the small inefficient detail that make a good story better (and as an aside, whose absence makes a mediocre film worse: X3). Thanks for allowing even minor characters to be more than types, and thanks for having no simply bad nor plainly good guys.
And now, I hope you allow me to be dense: You say that this is a finished story, don't you? I think I quite get the ending, and it makes me really sad. Which is why I looked at the reviews, and there seems to be a general expectation of more to come. So... ? (I'd be very hapy if there was more!)
Author's Response: First off, thank YOU, for such a marvelous and detailed review. And you're not dense. The comment at the beginning is there because this was posted once, long ago, on another website...and stalled out at the current chapter. I mentioned it in case anyone recognized it (and one or two people did, but were nice enough not to spoil anyone else, so far as I know). It is now a finished story as in, finally finished after all this time, but no--not finished yet in terms of chapters. (And now there is one more! I hope you like it too!)
What? What! Ack! I'm all twisted up at this point. Into knots! Please, update. Help!
Author's Response: Okay, updated! Twist in the other direction, quick!
Okay, so I think I'm missing something here. I don't think I understand what changed between them in the woods. Are the italics Rogue's thoughts during that time? And the last sentence "I would never have thought that would make me feel safe too." confuses me too. I get that she's confused about her feelings after Jean's revelation about her skin, but then I'm lost. This is one that I'm going to have to go back & re-read & see if I can figure out what went wrong.
Author's Response: I think you're pretty much there. ;) If you still have any confusion, try the next chapter. Jubilee's there laying some stuff out for everyone. And if you're still confused, feel free to email me with any questions...*g*
You are doing an expert job of staying true to your characters and your story line, but you are killing me here! I know she's afraid--of everything--and broken in so many pieces it's a wonder she can even stand up, but what does a feral have to do to get through to this girl? Oh, hell, I don't mean to whine, but could she just do one thing to let him know she's getting better and that he really is helping? Not the whole moon, maybe just a moonbeam or two, please? --Wendie
Author's Response: Careless of the moonlight merchant not to leave some about, isn't it? As for what Logan might have to do, well...wait and see, wait and see. Thank you, as always; your comments are a joy to read over.
Sigh. How satisfying. Thank you for having them talk things out, and for having things be "okay," but "not all of it." That feels much more real to me than, 'and they lived happily ever after.' I have to say, though, I'm hoping someone (maybe Jubilee) will be angry with her for trying to commit suicide, for scaring them all like that. Once again, lovely chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you! I waited until now to respond to this because, well, when you read the latest chapter you will probably realize why I waited until now. Sure you haven't read this before? ;)
Oh, these poor, poor children. This was a beautifully written chapter. I loved that you had Marie be confrontational, but at the same time having no idea what she's doing. Logan struggling with himself and just as unsure. When you put the two of them together they figure it out. Again, exceptionally well done.
Author's Response: This chapter gave me more fits than anything you've seen yet, I will admit that now. I'm glad to see it went over well. Thank you.
oooooooo best chapter ever so far. cant wait til next one
Author's Response: Okay, next one's up...in fact, next two are up!
I can't believe how long I've waited to submit a review for this story. I started reading this on the fourth or fifth chapter and I'm completely and utterly in love with your writing. The way you nail all the characters down to the perfect detail, the emotions, the fights, the writing.... it screams amazingness. Once I saw someone review your story saying to look on the top ten reviewed stories on WRFA I wanted to help make sure it stays number one for awhile ;)
Thank you so much for this story and for your originality. We are all waiting on tippy toes for every chapter that keeps coming our way. Even with you posting everyday I get impatient after I read a chapter haha. Anyways thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and for slogging through the whole thing! (And your help is appreciated.) More up now; more yet to come.
I love love love this story. Fav! :D
Author's Response: I love love love hearing that! Thank you! :)
'But if I had taken you with me, there would've been (something going on).' Finally, the truth is out there and they can deal with it. I just LOVE the way you write what these two think and feel. --Wendie
Author's Response: That is that Truth That Is Never Spoken, isn't it? I mean really now. And thank you once again.
"But it’s okay because I’m here, and she’s still here, and she knows why I came back. As long as she understands that, the rest we can figure out later." - Damn straight
"I don’t want to leave." - :) That's probably a first for him!
Despite how complicated the situation is & everything that's happened these two can just cut through the shit. I like that. And I like how you nail writing it.
And look under the Top Tens for Most Reviewed Story! :D
Author's Response: Yes, I saw; I'm kinda overwhelmed here. You're all much too sweet to me. *smooches*
Probably my favorite chapter so far. Lovely!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I like this one too.
Beautiful, just simply beautiful
Author's Response: Thank you!!
Awwwwww. Just awwww. :DDD Each chapter keeps topping my previous favorite chapter.
Author's Response: Awwww, back atcha. Thank you!
I read everything up to chapter 27 lastnight. I was so delighted to see that you posted yet another chapter today! I'm totally inlove with your story! Great work, hope to read more soon.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! Very happy to have you along for the ride. There's not that much more to go, but there's still some...
I don't want him to leave either. :-) xXx
Author's Response: I think we all feel that way. ;) Thanks for continuing!
