Barely Legal Since 2000
Wow. I'm not sure I can find the appropriate words to tell you just how much I loved and appreciated this story. Of course, I wish it would have gone on longer, it seems like just the tip of the iceberg here. But I also see the merit in leaving it just as you did.
Bravo.
Wonderfully written, but a not quite ending ending. So much more could go on from here, but I really enjoyed it!!
" strong enough to accept your power, strong enough to use your power without fear. Strong enough to stand inside your own body, and trust it to be good." What a powerful statement....thought....idea to finally grasp and get behind!
wow o geez. Such a wonderful story! And the irony of logan healing fast physically and mentally with jeans death. that was good.
"But he had smiled, just as easily as he had smiled before he let her leave, and then, without hesitation, he had pressed his bare palm against her forehead and said, wondrously, “Well, look at that. Works.”"
that was so logan! loved it!
You are an amazing writer.
After lurking on this site for weeks and weeks, I just now registered just to leave a review. This story moves me to tears every time I read it. Your writing is incredibly mature; I hope someday you will write for publication. Thank you.
I see, I see, I see what makes us. Yes.
Author's Response: Apologies for the late response to this lovely comment! Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time and effort to register just to leave your kind review. I'm so happy the story spoke to you, moved you.
I cried. Big, silent ridiculous tears. The beauty of this, the charm and splendour make me feel like if I tried to walk now I would stagger. Thank you. I was moved.

Author's Response: Whoops, haven't checked back here in a while; sorry to reply a bit late to your lovely feedback. Thank you for this amazing, amazing comment. I'm so happy you were moved by the story.
Wow. After that I need therapy. And a shot of Zubrowka.
Author's Response: Hahahaha. I love this comment. Short and sweet and traumatized. Adore. :)
i just have to say i loved this. quiet, elegantly written and beautifully realized fiction like this is hard to find and i'm very glad i found this. thank you for an intelligent, engaging read.
Author's Response: Thank you for this incredibly kind comment. I'm glad you enjoyed your reading.
I don't quite know what to say about this one except that it's one of my favorites. Even though I'm a bit of a whore for blatant Rogan shipper-ness, I really loved everything about this story and how you wrote it.
I can tell that you have a deep appreciation for Magneto & his portrayal in the movies and you definitely did the character justice in this piece. This story produced a very visceral reaction in me. I was reduced to tears during the park scene and little pieces of this story are still floating around in my brain (I read this yesterday, had to step away, & think about what to write in my review). It's pretty haunting. I think this will be one that I come back to & read over again.
Author's Response: I don't have words to thank you for telling me about the reaction you had to this story; I'm floored by gratitude, really. But thank you so much, nonetheless. "Visceral," and "haunting;" these are unbelievable compliments, and exactly the kind of response I so wish for. Especially since you typically love "blatant Rogan shipper-ness," which I know I'm poor at providing! So double, triple thanks, for that. I hope you will continue to find little things in it during your future visits. (And, yes, I certainly did pour a lot of my mad, complicated love for Magneto into it. Sigh.)
You write it – I’ll read it is my new saying just for you!
You really do nail lines in all the right places, sometimes as a reader you’re expecting them and other times they hit out of the blue but each and every time they punch. Love the way you seem to get really in-depth with thoughts/reasoning behind actions etc and the way your characters can fall apart but still remain strong.
Loved the interaction between Rogue and Eric - far from usual on this site, we see the Prof and Scott etc but it was a nice change to see Magneto and of course there is the added bonus that you do it so damn well. So much said without being said with regards to the phone calls and e-mails, and I thought the apology para was wonderful. You build a connection between R/L running deeper than father figure/brother/ friend/lover etc. but the direction of that connection is kind of left open for the reader at the end so those needing the love fix can technically have it even if *you* didn’t want it that way! It’s the wrfa you know they’re gonna want it!!
Superbly written, an absolute joy to read - I’m there for the next one - is it planned? Written? Ready to post? At least tell me you’ve got something running in your head ;) x
Author's Response: And it seems my new saying for you should be: "you respond, I rejoice!" Your comments are incredibly detailed and thoughtful, and a real gift. Thank you so much. I'm so happy you responded to this story, as it does have a special place for me, being the first X-Men story I ever wrote. Haha, yes, I know the site I'm on... I'm treading on dangerous ground with my somewhat wishy-washy R/L portrayal! As for Magneto--as I wrote in a previous comment, I'm kind of in love with him, especially Ian McKellen's incredible portrayal of him in the films; for me he remains the most moving character in the movieverse. It'd probably be more likely to see a conventional Erik/Charles romance come out of me, before a conventional Rogue/Logan! I really have to find a way to write Magneto again. As for the next one: while I've considered doing a kind of brief vignette-type 'epilogue' to this story, there's another work that I'm thinking about, that would be something like a negative-image remix of this one. Hard to explain, but I'm sure it'll show up at some point, after Anti-Romance Story lets me out of its chokehold.
Wow, this was so beautifully written it literally brought tears to my eyes. It's so poignant and insightful. I like your other two stories too, but this one is something special to me.
How did you come to see Magneto like that, and put everything together the way it is? I'm in awe, I hope you write published novels, not just fan fiction. You truly have talent.
Author's Response: Thank you for your wonderful comment; this made my day (and it's not even noon yet where I am). This story has a bit of a special place for me, too, as it's the first X-Men story I've ever written; you're always fond of the first kid in a special way, right? rnrnAs for Magneto--well, I'm a bit in love with him, particularly with Ian McKellen's nuanced and (to me) often heartbreaking portrayal of him in the films. If I'm honest, I'm probably a much more passionate "shipper" of Erik/Charles than Rogue/Logan--though this may not be the best place to make that confession! The fact that I'm also a bit in love with Patrick Stewart (portraying anything, frankly) doesn't hurt either. Also, I'm generally far more engaged with the complexity of Erik/the Brotherhood's political positions, despite their sometimes tragic flaws, than with the X-Men's, which I often find problematic. All in all, for me personally, Magneto is the most moving and compelling character in the movieverse. I'm sure he'll show up in another story somewhere.rnrnThanks again for your kindness.
What a calmly amazing, painfully mature story. Great mastery of language, more so of character - so good to see Rogue maturing into a personality, not just her growing into a woman who can have sex with Logan. Thanks for making this story true to life rather than happy, and for crafting it so carefully.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for this incredibly kind comment. I'm so happy you responded to the language and the characters. And yes--I'm more or less uninterested in the kind of Rogue that lives solely through her desire for some sort of romantic resolution with Logan. And I'm practically allergic to conventional happy endings (or beginnings, or middles, for that matter.) :) Thanks again.
I read this a few nights ago, and it was literally so late by the time I finished that I couldn't type anymore, just turn off the computer and bury my head in the pillow. But I did it with a smile. I absolutely LOVE what you did hear. It's a great way to get rid of Magneto, in a symphathetic way, and I thought that blank emails and calls where she never said a word were interesting. I'm not sure I could put up with someone doing that to me, but sometimes I like to see Logan tortured. Maybe it's a hold-over from actually watching the second and third movies. *mutters about stupid, blind men*
Author's Response: Thank you again for this lovely feedback, and thank you for giving it your precious sleeping hours! Yes--I'm sort of in love with Magneto, so if I can help it, I never want to get rid of him. Haha, and yes, I obviously enjoy writing a tortured Logan, though more because his character is practically always torturing himself. "Put a cigar out on your hand? Really? Err--healthy."
It's all been so very well said... I can't improve.
I really, really loved this. I only wish there was more of your Rogue to read. I hope that when I hit your name, another story will be there. Thank you!
Author's Response: Thanks for the lovely feedback about the Rogue portrayal; I'm happy you responded to it. She's a compelling character to write, especially since her portrayal in the films is so erratic.
An amazing piece of literature. The voices are incredibly authentic and the scenes so well crafted I could "see" and "hear" the performances as if they were playing out before me. You completely redeemed X3 with this continuation - a true miracle in my eyes. Please write more of anything!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for the lovely feedback--though I don't think anything can redeem the disaster that is X3! I feel like the only way to sit through this film is to see its swell of triumphal misogynistic smugness for what it is, and operate from a point of total revulsion and outrage. Then all the asshat portrayals in it get kind of interesting. Like, "Wow, yet another monstrous character portrayal. Thank you, film. Now let me punch myself in the face."
This is superb. One truly well written story. Every character was so well done, their interaction was so real! Loved everything specially Logan's phone calls and the end of it - she helping him.
Thanks for the writting, pls keep up with more fics im your fan!
Author's Response: Thanks for the lovely feedback; I'm so happy you enjoyed the character portrayals and interactions!
My new absolute favorite story!
Author's Response: Wow, thank you very much!
