Sometimes second person is the only way to go...and this was definitely one of those times. There's a subtlety to it that sort of takes you by the hand and leads you gently into the heart of the story so that you almost don't notice how captivating it is until you're caught up in everything he's feeling, everything he's revealing so honestly and intimately...Amazing.
This passage was particularly beautiful: Even with her newly found control you see the caution and fear she tries to cover and hide around everyone else as well as the vigilant look in her eyes. You feel her need to run sometimes, not as strong as yours but there none the less. For all this you blame yourself. It was there before, a watered down version, but by saving her you intensified, magnified and strengthened it all. You see how she tries to keep to the shadows just like you. The smiles she keeps only for you are full of nothing but honesty and truth, no lies hidden on or beneath the surface for you.
I never thought of it that way, that him being 'in her head' didn't make her more like him; it made her a better, stronger, more confident version of herself. Confident enough, apparently, to use a slinky red dress to finally cut through all the bullshit and claim her man.
And as last lines go, that one is spectacular. Oh, and Happy Birthday! --Wendie
Author's Response: Thank you for all of the above but especially ‘There's a subtlety to it’.....I managed to do what I set out to do! A gentle ride [oh god I’m on the puns again ;) ] the last line was actually the first one I wrote! [I like to do things differently!!] thanks for birthday wishes - had a smiley day thanks to you and ct x
There was not ONE DAMN THING wrong with this fic!! That disclaimer was totally unnecessary and a waste of space, IMHO! You've hit another one out of the park, litlen...BRAVO!!
Author's Response: You shouted at me and told me off!............please feel free to do it whenever you damn well please. You really do know how to make my day and shoo away my serious lack of confidence. Thanks ct, your words have had me smiling all day :)rn rn
