They way he's willing to put aside his own possible wants and desires for Marie's sake is truly heartwrenching, and so beautifully illustrated here.

Author's Response: Thank you. You are kind to say that. Artemis wrote a companion piece for it not long after I posted this on lj years ago. It was from Rogue's point of view. It put mine to shame, I can tell you, for she writes so beautifully. I would point you to it, but I'd have to find that journal entry with her reply.

His constant conflict with himself concerning Marie is beautifully drawn in this short, angst piece. ...and sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar...ha!
