The angst in this one was so *palpable*. I felt so badly for Logan and Rogue, for this one slip, how Rogue couldn't help herself, and how Logan kept almost remembering and not.

"Have I met you before?" Her mutation. Her hair. How affected she was. Puzzling him.

But the kicker for me was the dance.

Rogue followed Logan out onto the dance floor with her head down. When he tried to pull her close to him, Rogue stiffened her arms to keep him from getting too close. She cleared her throat and said, “Be careful of my skin, I don’t want to hurt you.”

“I told you I heal, Darlin’,” Logan said as he gave her a smirk. “I’m sure whatever it is your skin can do, I’ll heal from it.”

Rogue gave him a scared look and said, “Just be careful.”

Carefulness not just about her skin. But about getting hurt again. Feeling too much. So much in her restraint. So much in his insistence.

And then when she's crying, and she knows he must smell her tears. What must he think? But the fact that he *doesn't* react says so much more. *heart breaks*

And then I think, he must remember something when he tears out to search for her in the parking lot. I got such an intense image out of that line.

Do you think it was Xavier's fault, though? I can see how his approach is frustrating, too much to handle. I can hear the bitterness in the words, "the professor knows best". Is anyone to blame for this scenario?

Is there a follow-up? *bats lashes* Sounds like Logan remembers.

Author's Response: Yes, there is a follow up. This series will be in four parts (two down and two to go!) I hope in saying this that I don't too much away but, no i don't blame Xavier. I don't blame anyone. Things happen beyond control but its how you react to those things that circulate consequences you must suffer. Thanks for the review, Part 2 is already up.
