I am so anxious to see where exactly you are going to be taking us with this story! There are so many twists and turns and now this new revelation about Logan's past.... (however, is he going to be so obsessed with this that he ignores Marie?....see what I mean. I have no idea where this is going to end up) Can't wait to read the next chapter.
BTW, I freaking hate Jean Grey (cheating, lying cow). Now I feel better. :-P

Author's Response: LOL, glad ya like it, lots more twists and turns to come, especially when Marie confronts Wolverine if Logan finally lets her in again. In this story remember Logan has no romantic thoughts about Marie, he sees her as the annoying kid hell-bent on saving his life even when he doesn't want her to. Maybe his realisation about her will come, but slowly and gradually, perhaps right towards the end, that is if Wolverine leaves them both sane and whole enough to reach the end... I like the idea of keeping readers guessing! :) I don't really hate Jean, just see her as an unfortuante cog in a larger machine, I always thought she must be a little tired of being seen as the perfect and reliable Jean Grey, hence thre rebellious part of her that throws herself into an affair with an unstable Logan, the thrill is probably too much of an incentive and drug!

There it was again, that need to show at least one of them was unbreakable, that one X-man was invincible, it was so important, everyone in the mansion looked up to Logan, he was their hero in waiting.

Yes, sometimes healing others is much more about ourselves than the person who needs saving. I think it's interesting that, in your fics, different characters see the same action and ascribe different motives and values to it. It makes each character unique, even if I don't yet feel I really know Scott here yet.

The same thing happens with Marie sucking in Logan's power. She had thought she was helping him. She had thought she was giving him a break from Wolverine, and that the Wolverine from her nightmares was really substituting Logan for her. But what if his target, all this time, has been her. He never wanted her to touch him in the first place. Maybe saying 'James' to him was the only way she could reach them both in a happier time before they had these secrets and darkness between them.

And whether Logan is telling the truth about it 'going both ways' or not, it's not just the taking that they both have to accept - but the accepting.

Love the symbolism.

Author's Response: Yep, you got it exactly right, its 'bout the both of them putting asid etheir pride and fear long enough to realise a walk in each others mind is just what they need. Thing is they both have so little of a past left, so little of good memories left that you can almost understand why they'd guard that part of them so jealously. If it's not having them stripped from forcefully, its being asked to give it away willingly. LOL, thanks for a legnthy and insightful review as ever! :)

Author's Response: I know...yep ducking from all objects thrown my way!*g* But asshole Logan has everything to do with making sure he can't hurt Marie again, awake or in his nightmares. He's thrown the ball in her court, 'share everything, or its nothing..' He firmly believes she'll back down, but will she? Course not, this is Marie our golden gal, no way she's gonna be bullied like this.

Ow. "James" That could seriously hurt her. This story is very dark, love it! Question, does the songs at the end inspire the chapters or do you find songs to fit the chapter?

Author's Response: Tough question, kinda like the chicken and egg thing for me, which one came first, it can work either way, sometimes a line in a song can give me the perfect hook for a chapter. Other times I'll write a chapter and find a song in my collection to go with it. Basically music is my life, and the kind of music I usually listen to fit in well with angsty Marie/Logan fics. LOL thanks for the review :)

I've read this kind of scenario before, but the clarity with which you write his nightmares, the aching unsteadiness with which you describe his pain makes it yours. And I also love that you don't push the boundaries too far in this one. It's all about them being tentative with each other, taking small steps, oh-so-tiny steps towards what they want to be. She feels like she can comfort him more than this.

You write some great dark stuff, rawrave. I dig it. :) But in this one, what I love is the connection. It adds a bit of bright.

Author's Response: Glad you like it, the nightmares will get worse, and I guess both of them are gonna suffer before some sort of end. Marie's taking a hell of a risk walking into Logan's mind, it's the one place he has the least control over Wolverine... LOL :)

That's a wonderful, strangely quiet one - it may well stand on its own (sorry AAngel! ;-).
Logan seems darker than usually; he reminds me more of comicverse Logan, and Rogue, depending how you write her, might be more mature and quietly... hmm... stalwart?
Would love to see it continue, would greatly prefer to see it continue unmolested by smut and romance (if I may be so bold as to interfere with the ideas you doubtlessly have ;-).

Author's Response: Rogue is infinitely more mature in this fic, she has to be especially if she's gonna delve into the hell that is Logan's mind. No smut in this fic, as for romance well maybe towards the very end perhaps. Its more of an exploration in seeing Logan and Wolverine as two seperate identities, and Rogue having to figure out exactly why the animal in Logan wants to kill him. I wanted to creat a past for Logan, as a man with a pst, maybe even a family... Anyway thanks for the review LOL :)
