Excellent chapter! Loved how Magneto managed to control Logan so easily - reminded me of an event in one of the comics when he ripped all Wolvie's adamantium out. Ouch! Magneto is probably one of the few mutants who could really do some serious damage to our favourite feral - Rogue herself being another. But she's not gonna hurt her Logan, is she? Not likely! Not when there's a cell to get out of and a power-mad rival to take care of! Looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Ha...go read the last chapter, and then come back to read my response to your totally prescient review. I'll wait here. ::whistling::rnrnYeah, it was sad that Rogue had to hurt Logan, but it was really the only way. I did try to throw a few breadcrumbs into earlier chapters about how oppressive the metal is, so that it would be believable that Logan would actually be relieved to find it gone. I guess in the comicverse he's lost and regained the metal at least a few times, huh? I read in a wiki that his healing factor was much improved without it, but not sure if he was ever relieved to have it gone or not.

Woman, you're MEAN. This was the worst cliffhanger so far - but great storytelling all over (as I already said). And the scene between "Bobby" and Pyro was heartbreaking. *applauds*
Author's Response: Sorry! No cliffhangers in the next (last) chapter, I promise. :-D I'm glad you liked the Bobby/Pyro scene. I have to admit, I quite grew to like Dead!Bobby. He started out as a bit of a sap in my mind, but turned out to be a stand-up guy. And he knows when to give a girl some space, unlike Inner!Logan. ;-)

oh Erik is SUCH a pain in the ass sometimes!! Wonderful last two chapters. The moments between Bobby and John were very sweet. Now Marie has to touch Mags again to fix Logan. No way she is leaving him.

Hey there. Sorry I'm so late on reviewing. Real life is really doing a number on me right now. :/ But, I wanted you to know how much I love this story. The love scene between Logan and Marie was awesome. The way she finally "let" herself delve into his feelings for her... so great. And now, Pyro and Bobby... sigh. Anyway, this is great. I was slowly drawn into this tale, dropping in from time to time and finally finding myself waiting for each new chapter. Thank you for taking a (VERY) familiar premise and plot and writing both of our beloved heroes as refreshingly mature human beings - distrustful, hurt beyond measure and still yearning for closeness. Rogue is a strong women (even if vulnerable), and far beyond any usual fanfiction cliché, and Logan as a wonderful man, so much more than the stereotype of a cigar-smoking feral we see far too often for my personal liking. Plus that the story is full of delicious twists, packed with suspense and rimmed with breathtaking cliffhangers - bravo. I'm definitely a fan.

Very clever way to let her really see/feel the truth, definite Ahh factor throughout.
Not quite sure how Magneto got to them so easily especially on home turf? But looking forward to seeing what will happen now – two very pissed mutants, highly protective of each other, both with seriously dangerous powers - ok so Logan not much use against Magneto but Marie.....bring on Rogue and let the games begin :)
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it! There will be a little more about how Magneto got to them so easily in the next chapter, but I did try to plant a breadcrumb in a previous chapter (remember when Logan says that it is too dangerous for Marie to go in the woods with Magneto after her, so she should garden with Ro?) to indicate that the woods around the estate are just too extensive to secure entirely from a very determined foe. Yes, the next part was quite a logic problem. You have Wolverine, who can only be restrained by adamantium, and Marie, who has control over all things metal. Very hard to figure out how to imprison them together! I hope I managed to have Magneto figure it out without it being *too* convoluted, but for the logistics of it I had to make them vulnerable to tranquilizers despite a healing factor (although it does take massive, repeated doses).

Okay, now is the time for Super Rogue! Seriously, the woman *knows* what Magneto is like, knows that he'll use Logan to get to her, and knows he can't be trusted. So, don't let Magneto manipulate you, Rogue! Fight! You're tough, you're badass, you've got way more up your sleeve than that villain. Don't go quietly! Damn the torpedos (or, in this case, darts) and full steam ahead! Make Mags wish he'd never even heard of you!
Okay, enough of my ranting. Thanks for the chapter! I'm still in and hooked despite my ambivalence about smut. Whoop-- on to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Yeah, I've been surprised by how this Marie has turned out so far...she's a little more vulnerable (i.e., weepy) than I usually portray her. I like a kickass Rogue myself. :-D I promise she will do what she can. Glad you decided to power on despite the smut...I don't know if there will be more, probably not, but if so I will definitely warn if there is.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked the part about Jean's powers...I was worried that it might be too much, but I wanted it to be believable for Logan to win back Marie's trust in a fairly compressed timeline and what works better than a straight-from-the-head burst of telepathy? ;-) Sorry about the cliffhanger...I'm evil that way. ;-) I think I do it as much for myself, if I get a cliffhanger in it means I know how the next chapter is going to go.

Then, you throw in that fantastic twist at the end, a la MAGNETO. Unbelievable, I am telling you, you had me completely rivetted. As I was reading (and believe me, I was reading as slowly as I could,) I kept looking at the side bar of my computer screen, giddy because I could tell there was so much more to go.
Now, I shall go re-read your chapter because that's just the way I roll. :)

These last two chapters have not been slow at all! I found this chapter to be especially riveting. The emotions were just so raw and intense between them. I really liked the way that they finally came to an understanding--Logan finally getting her to access his memories, Marie coming to realize that he really is sorry and that he cares for her. I like the fact that they need to work things out but that they are still desperate for each other.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you felt that way. I think I just get self-conscious when chapters have less "action" going on and are more introspective/character development. I'm glad that their rapprochement felt natural to you. Thanks so much for your review!

Your writing is phenomenal! Not only do you have fantastically creative and fresh ideas for the characters, but you consistently root them in a believable emotional reality that is so compelling and super smutty good :) I usually don't read stories that haven't been completed, but I couldn't resist starting another good tale by you - I loved The Prisoner by the way. And, up until now, I wasn't a member of this site so I couldn't review. But after burning through all 10 chapters in one sitting I had to login and send you my cyber love! Please keep the chapters coming - I'm definitely hoping this one will be epically long and angsty :)
