The plot thickens! I recognize all the characters, I think, but is Mistress Gold an OC?
Author's Response: i was surprised so many people thought mistress gold was an OC. i've read your next review so clearly you've guessed she's not. i just wanted Good!Jean and Bad!Jean in the same fic and splitting them into two people seemed to best way to do it. hope you're enjoying it even with both sides of jean there...

I don't know if you have done it on purpose but you have a very Carnivale (the series) feel to this. There is mystery and intrigue and something vaguely off in the distance you can't quite see. I love it. (But I am weird. :))

You are on fire with this - you must be. I'm going to run out of things to say about your writing, your imagination, your incredible talent...everything. Red-gold strand of hair? Man, that is just so...so...perfect. I could feel the cold, the night, the TIGHTNESS of the damn thing!
Then there's lines like this that open the door of the world you've created and give me a front row seat:

Love how this is still a story we know, still characters/scenes/situations we know - but specifically how you’re managing to re-write it all into this beautifully detailed, complex and unique world that is so so different yet not! no swearing today - this is great keep it coming x

And here, I must enquire, what are you smoking woman? The idea of a strand of HAIR as a weapon ... so twisted, and logical, and sinister, and original ... insanely good. An idea for the ages. One thing I adore about this fic is its timelessness, and how well it meshes with the X-men universe without being set in it. I'm going to think of it as the official, medieval-era prequel. You should bill Marvel, really.
