I think Marie's reaction to Xavier's intrusion was perfect. It just makes so much sense that she wouldn't want more voices in her head.
Also, you made Jean beyond mean. She was like, evil!Jean. I loved how Scott admonished her, just like she was a student or something.
Such twists and turns! Don't hold out on me. You better reveal things soon.
Author's Response: Yeah, it makes sense to me that both Logan and Marie would *hate* Xavier's telepathy. Yeah, Mean!Jean was a little over-the-top. My first attempt at a Mean!Jean, I need to calibrate a little better next time. Thanks for reviewing!

My guess is that the little darling has already run into Lenscher and triggered a memory in the library at Xavier's. I wouldn't be so free and trusting either. Smart cookie. Make everyone think you are all about the money and looking out for yourself while still giving them everything you planned to in the first place and not having them ever expect more of you that that. Brilliant thinking. I love that your mind conjured up such trixsy fabulosity.

Loved tough Marie, even if something weird is going on...and, I admit, I like that Logan is more of the pursuer, wanting her to trust him and rely on him. And she is the runner. Oh, just satisfation. :D

I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and guess that one of the telepaths in that office sent Marie the message that has her defense system cranked up to DefCon One. And I don't think it was the bald fella in the wheelchair... Now the question is: What could Dr. McBitchypants have said that has Marie running scared instead of fighting mad? Chapter 10 can't get here fast enough for me! --Wendie

What happened? You have me thinking now, was it something Jean did? I don't think so, I don't think it is something Charles would have done, so it had to be something Marie saw. What could have been on Charles' bookshelf that would have made her freak like that?

what the FUCK did xavier 'say' to her?! she was fine until her scent changed to panic and she was looking right at chuck when it did, so he must've of said something to her telepathically. that or like one of her psyches figured something out about the xmen that freaked her out. i'm so curious to see what happened and why she asked for those things. like logan said, it doesn't make sense.
this was *such* a good update!!! i love how strong your rogue is. most rogan stories have her immediately leaning on logan, him solving her all problems. i like how here she's true to lots of RL abuse survivors, very cautious and hesitant to give her trust. honestly, she's risked more than he has so far in their relationship. *she* broke them out, *she* saved his life by playing nurse, *she* accessed the memories of a sociopath to help him. sure he's brought her to the mansion and stood up to jean for her but that last bit marie wasn't around to see.
sorry, totally rambling. a sure sign i'm in love with a story! again, can't wait 'til the next update!

Yeah, I feel like this Rogue is in some ways a reaction to the last, who was just so broken and lost that she really clung to Logan. I wanted this Rogue to be much more prickly and independent. I just hope I can keep her that way -- I'm having to resist the urge to make her all gushy about Logan. I mean...who wouldn't be? ;-)
