I had almost forgotten about Daddy the Mobster, but I like that you gave Marie a chance to settle that score.
Best dialogue I've read in a loooong time:
"Remind me never to piss you off, Marie."
"You better start putting the seat down, then."
(I so wish I could make with the snappy retorts in real life, but alas, I'm usually not that quick.)

Author's Response: I had another comeback and then this one just popped in my head. It was too good not to use. :p
Hooray! That's about as happy-ever-after as you can get with those two. Thank goodness. One thing I don't understand is, why did Marie's dad want her back? It didn't seem to me that he really cared about her all that much. So what good would it have done for her to be back? Maybe I just didn't read closely enough; I'll just go back and reread their happy-ever-after. :)
Author's Response: I debated whether or not to put some in there from Owen's perspective - maybe I'll add something. As I saw it, in this moment, Owen is remorseful for what Victor did but, deep down, he feels more responsible for making a made a bad judgement call putting Victor in the place he did. Owen is a posessive man and Marie is more his property than a beloved daughter. He loves her, but he also sees her value in terms of securing his empire by marrying her to someone who can take over. He wanted her to come back so that he could maintain face and have her back in the fold. Thank you so much for reviewing!
Loved this story! Hope you continue to write other ones!
Author's Response: Oh, I will. I'll probably take a bit of a break but I've already got an idea brewing for the next story. Thank you for reviewing!
YAY! beautiful update, love the ending with dad and marie standing up to him. wonderful job as always!!!
Author's Response: Thank you! I had to get dad in there before the end. So glad you enjoyed it!
