OOooooo, this doesn't sound as good as it did 2 paragraphs ago, does it? But I'm still with the 'vacationing' troops...let the evidence speak for itself, the "truth" will come out eventually....touted to the masses, unfortunately, by those that won.

Author's Response: Your right it isn't just a co-incidence, the world has changed and it will unfold around our players. The machine has been primed for years, all it was waiting for was the right time to act. Unfortunately I'm a CSI fan and I could just *see* Mac and his team in New York trying to get to the bottom of the mess that was left behind. An knowing him, he would, no matter what the cost to himself or those around him. Glad you enjoyed the chapter honey.

I've always hated the way the media twisted and turned things around; always having it favor one side or the other. So much for freedom of the press, it's a freedeom for who ever can afford to buy it out.

Author's Response: Exactly honey, thats why Emma feels so bad about what's happened to the kids from Xavier's. Their families are going to think they're dead, move on with their lives, have funerals when they're still alive. The sucky thing is this though, *BECAUSE* they've been declared *dead* they have NO rights anymore....what a perfect way to get the things they were promised by Xavier. Don't you think?

Wow, I feel sorry for the isolation that has just hit Jubes; but after all that's happened she can't just up and "switch sides" again because she feels sorry for the ultimate untimely death of Xavier. He had no trouble sending innocents to their death, why should 'his' death for their survival mean so much??
I'm glad to see the Logan and Marie have caught a break. I had a feeling about the driver; kinda thought he might be okay. Really glad to see I was right!! Keep up the great work!

Author's Response: Your right about it not being Mystique, and no it's not multiple man, it is however a very sad thing and something Xavier is going to have to live with for the rest of his life. We're just into 11am now, we've got an interlude coming next (well I say interlude but its going to be more like a bloodbath). Then we get to dinner time! And the man watching the soldiers, well *where* did you think Xavier was getting his information *from*? (Evil Grin) All will be revealed in time......trust me.

Wow, almost speechless here. Wanna see Xavier get what he's got coming to him, wanna see this vamp dude get his too. Hope you're going to let L/M retain their humanity, it really wouldn't be right, after all they've gone through and done, to just let them fade away from their former selves.
What's with Erik showing up? Thought he was dead? Is he coming to help? Help who? I hope he's on L/M's side, it wouldn't do for him to go helping anyone else.

Author's Response: Erik had a very handy little lady didn't he? Mystique can be anyone she wants to be especially when it suits her purpose, like bringing down the person who killed her only friend? And our two heroes? You'll have to wait and see what happens, the day has just started and it's not the worst of it yet. There's more pain to come....

Oh, Jo! Are you getting as excited as the rest of us for this little dance to come to an end? I noticed an awful lot of typos in this chappie. That's not like you, is your mind going faster than your fingers can keep up with? Slow it down some and concentrate, sweetie. We'll wait for ya, maybe not patiently ;o) but we want it to be good too!!

This is the darkest hour for them. It's time to decide what they are and what are they ready to do.

It's sad to see all the treason and broken hurts as a result of it. But also the ignite of either hope to make it better or fury to battle against it.

I adore this chapter. The whole story has been an enjoyment, though I particularly liked the section in the wilds of Canada over winter. This chapter is meaty, almost poetic in parts, and the paragraph about Logan going out camping when all the women got hormonal is just grand!

I would, I'm glad your enjoying the story I'm trying to get it as 'real' as possible, the confusion, the upset and the 'what do we do now?' aspects. But, I'm slightly confused...I completely get Xavier's need for Jean to help shore up his own abilities. Especially with the internal struggle going on between the darkness and his conscience. But it seems like an opposing reaction for Jean's exclamation to have unleashed his dark side. Shouldn't her discovering all that he's been up to, and her riling against it (and him), have caused the utter distruction of his darker side when he finally found Scott, and by extension, her?

I guess the one good thing that can come from his destructive actions is that commando force from the last chapter 'should' fall to this murderous mental rampage. Shouldn't it??

And also, how sad that even the world's most powerful telepath can't or won't see past the surface level of things. Yes, he may have had a hand in the creation of the Wolverine, but to never have seen beyond that, to still see and think of Logan as just "an animal, a monster" is so very, very sad. But then, I guess it's that very thing, the inability to see those around you as (fellow) human beings, and not just things to be used as a means to an end, that leads one down this road to manipulation, narcissism, megalomania.



Author's Response: Hiya ct_xfan, I'll try to clear up the confusion.... When Charles found Scott he was trying to locate him, trying to use his mind's echoes to get in. Jean's powers are so much stronger than his have ever been now. But the danger is this, she *knows* everything that Scott knew, she has the information about everything he'd ever done while she was there. All the manipulation, all the things he'd done, all the late night conversations about how he should handle her as a lover. She's found out exactly who Charles *is* and what he needed her for. When she shouted NO at him it wasn't his dark side (subconscious) reaching out to Scott it was his conciousness. This is why he's been damaged the way he has and what it'll mean for the rest of them. The force that's on it's way hasn't been killed, Charles's mind struck out blindly, he didn't kill them but some other poor soliders did. An finally the way he'd been using people, Charles had always been fighting for a *race*, individuals don't matter to people like that. We all do it, our own leaders do it but here it's like Cro-Magnon versus Neanderthal. One will come out on top and Charles is backing mutants in his own way. Otherwise why would he have given Marie to Logan or Kitty to Peiter? You gotta give them something to fight for haven't you? Hope that clears a few points up hon. Jo
