8:00 A.M.

Marie headed to her room to change her clothing because she looked rather like something Tigger dragged in. She brushed out her hair and found a clean pair of jeans to climb into. A cream colored t-shirt and a bra completed the new look. Then she rushed down to the kitchen in her bare feet. She took another quick stare at her ring. A flood of happiness over took her as she strode into the kitchen through the open archway. Marie moved about the kitchen with ease as she pulled out the ingredients to make breakfast. She decided to make blintzes for Logan. That way she could make the mix stretch in case they wanted a snack later before lunch. That was if her lover fiancé let her out of bed long enough to make more food.

Logan went into his bathroom. He splashed a little cologne on and brushed his teeth. For the hair, he just dipped his head under the shower faucet and tapped it with a towel to minimally dry it. There was no need to wash it because he’d done that yesterday. He stopped off to slip on a clean white tank top, pair of elephant gray colored sweats with the school logo on them, and headed down to the kitchen to break his fast. He sauntered into the kitchen and Marie was at the stove with a hand on one hip and the spatula in the other; her hips tilted slightly to the right. Logan took a whiff of the air and it smelled of salted pork product, that floury stuff he knew was called Bisquick, scrambled eggs, and his scent all over Marie. He smiled. He was a happy man; content.

“Coffee’s on,” she looked at him with her sweet smile.

“What’s on the menu?”

“Scrambled eggs, blintzes stuffed with somethin’ ah haven’t decided on yet, and bacon.”

Abruptly, the alarm on the coffee maker went off. Logan decided to let her get it while he went to set the table.

Marie flipped the last pieces of bacon and then filled a couple of coffee mugs. She passed one to Logan as he leaned against the counter next to her.

“Ahh, thanks darlin’,” he sighed after he took a sip of the warm black coffee.

“Your welcome.” He put down his mug.

“These look heavenly,” he spoke.

Suddenly, she felt his large, warm hands on her breasts. He cupped them at first but then he began to knead and tease them just a little before he turned her. Then he gave her a deep ten second kiss good morning. Marie couldn’t help it as she melted into his arms and she eagerly kissed him back. Oh, she needed to stop before she burned the bacon… Swiftly, as if he read the same thing on her mind, he let her go. He turned to leave for the table and she play swatted his ass to be a tease.

“That looks heavenly too, sugah.”

She settled on cottage cheese for filling on the blintzes. Before she went to the table she cut up a couple oranges into wedges and added them to a bowl. Logan came back and helped her to the table with the food.

“This looks wonderful. I didn’t think we had much food left because of the holidays. I was just lookin’ for your specialty this mornin’.”

“You’ll get mah specialty latah, sugah. Besahds, ya didn’t have your coffee yet and ah wanted ta surprise ya.”

“Thanks again. Gimme a fork would ya, I dropped mine. I can’t wait to dig into these.”

“Sure. Ah’, goin’ for tha paper. Be raht back.”

“Don’t stay away too long,” he kissed the back of her hand before he stole her fork.

Marie didn’t seem to mind; she’d get one on the way back.

Logan got up as she rushed out to the foyer. He watched her at the front door and caught a view… Of course he did… A nice view of her tight ass in those skinny jeans she loved to wear. He wondered if she had bothered to put on any panties under them. He had to mentally slap himself straight before she caught him staring. Then he rushed back to the table as if nothing had happened.

“Heah’s tha paper,” Marie spoke as she sat back down with a new fork.

“Yeah and I ain’t sharin’ this time. You can read it when I’m done,” knowing how she liked to steal the entertainment and the daily crossword sections.

Marie doesn’t understand what’s brought on his abrupt sense of possessiveness over the newspaper. So, she decided to play with him. She picked at a little of each thing on her plate. Logan was practically ignoring her as he absorbed the news of the new year. He held the sports section so far up, she couldn’t see his face.

“If you are what ya eat...” She mused aloud as she picked at her strip of bacon.

“Yeah,” Logan said, feigning interest and unknowingly picking up Marie’s bait as he read on.

“Well, ah'm eatin’ bacon,” she was totally enjoying where her line of thought was going.

It was only a matter of time before Logan gave up, unable to follow along.

“So,” he spoke, obviously not getting her point.

“Wanna smoke meh,” Marie asked seductively as she turned her food point into a reference about his habit of smoking cigars.

“Maaariee...” Logan responded at the beautiful mental imagery Marie conjured in his mind’s eye, as he slapped the paper shut and down to the kitchen table.

Logan leaned over and picked her up and tossed her up onto his left shoulder, and was about to head back to bed for Marie’s specialty until she stopped him.

“Logan! Wait, breakfast!” She cried out.

He turned around and bent backwards to the table. She grabbed their plates off the table. Then he headed back upstairs with her.

Lara Wyle’s Cabin
Between Tooley Lake and Kootenai National Forest, MT.
Wednesday, December 30, 2009
4:00 A.M.

Lara fought the bitter cold temperatures of the winter night as she snuck out to the barn to saddle the horses. She didn’t want to lead the cabin and Lily. She rarely got to see her at it was, but, she had to go back. She saddled Midnite first, then Beau, and lastly Geyser. She turned and was shocked to find Lily there.

“Weather report says a storm’s comin’ from Washington, should be heah tomorrow.”

“I know. I wasn’t gonna leave yet. I was just gettin’ a head start packin’ up my ride outtah here.”

“Ah know,” Lily replied and Lara sensed that she would have let her know how upset she was if she left without a good-bye.

“When are you leaving?”

“This afternoon. Ah wanna go get some pictures to remind meh of the cold when we get those swelterin’ summers in Nawlins.”

“Be careful,” Lara said as she hugged her sister.

“Ah will.”

“Listen, I want you to find Remy Le Beau when you get back home. If anything happens to me, he should be able to get you safely to Logan and Marie in New York.”

“Why not your hubby?”

“Because he doesn’t have nearly the kind of resources Charles Xavier has. He would know what to do to protect you. And Logan protects Charles Xavier and his school. You don’t have to find Mr. Le Beau right away but do it soon. I have a feeling something’s gonna happen and I want you looked after. Love you lots.”

“Love you moah. Ah’ll call ya when ah get in.”

“Ditto.”

“You should git, the horses look ready ta run. Say hello ta Frank for meh.”

“I will.”

Then Lara climbed back up on Midnite and settled her derrière into the cold leather saddle. It was starting to warm with the heat coming through her jeans. She picked up the reigns and turned Midnite’s head to the right. She waved as Beau and Geyser started to follow the lead headed up the snow covered trail.

Triple R Ranch
Near Tooley Lake, MT.
6:00 A.M.

Two hours later Lara rode up to the ranch. She stopped, dismounted, and took care of the horses. She gave each of them a treat and a rub on the nose before she left the barn. Then she went up to the business office. She noticed an older gentleman in the window and before she could knock, he opened it.

“Good morning, can I come in?”

“Yes, please, don’t stay out there.”

“I have returned the horses to the barn and I’m here to get the keys to my rental in the barn.”

“I’m Robert Rhodes, by the way.”

“Mrs. Lara Wyle,” she said as she felt him grip her hand warmly in a shake.

Then he turned with his coffee mug and went to look for the keys. He couldn’t find them on the writing desk near the old fashioned black and brass pedestal phone of the 1900’s style. She saw him pick up a note from a cork board mounted on the wall next to the writing desk.

“Says here that Randy left them in the vehicle.”

“Wonderful. I’ve paid for everything in advance and so I must be going. I have to catch a plane soon.”

“Yeah, there’s a storm coming in. They’re saying it might come in late tonight at the earliest.”

“Thank you, Happy New Year.”

“Same to you.”

Missoula International Airport
Missoula, MT.
10:00 A.M.

There were lines everywhere… Lines for luggage, lines for security check points, lines for checking in, lines for car rental return, and lines to get into the snow covered airport. People were trying to go home, getting out of town, or getting rerouted because of the storm coming in. It was threatening to close the airport, Lara heard on the radio. Wading through the mess wasn’t too bad for her. The line at the car rental return didn’t take as long as she thought it would because the company had extra staff to handle everything. Fortunately, she didn’t have to wait as long as the others taking commercial flights because she had the jet. Soon they were in the air. About a half an hour in once they leveled off, Ivan came along with a small tray of cheeses, fruits, crackers, and meats. She gratefully accepted the food and the mug of hot chocolate when he returned with it on a cocktail napkin.

San Diego International Airport
San Diego, CA.
5:00 P.M.

Lara could see Frank coming up to the plane with a bouquet of blood red roses. She stood and headed for the exit. Soon she was in his arms and she gave him the biggest hug her energy level could muster.

“I love you,” she said with tears forming in her eyes.

“I love you too dear… Oh come now, no more tears. How was your trip?” He said as he put an arm around her.

They began to walk to the car and Lara finally told her husband about her sister. Not in full detail but, just the things he needed to know. She talked quite a bit and he just listened. He chose not to get angry at her for not trusting him with the secret sooner but, now that he knew about Lily he would protect her even if Lara didn’t ask. She was now a part of his family, a sister in law. Besides, he couldn’t stay mad at Lara for long anyway. Lara didn’t tell him that she was a mutant but, he assumed so because she was the same age as his wife. The most interesting part to him was when his wife mentioned her coming to California for Logan and Marie to meet her. It sounded like a good idea. He could grill something out on the outdoor kitchen grill. He figured Logan wouldn’t mind because he looked like a meat and potatoes kind of guy like him. Yeah a barbeque sounded great to him… Then he happened to see a sign ahead… He took Lara to Claim Jumper in Carlsbad for dinner. They had great barbecue…

9:05 P.M.

The phone suddenly rang as Lara and Frank were watching the television for other countries celebrating the New Year. Frank reached for the portable off the end table next to the couch before Lara could. She felt that it was good news before he answered it.

“Hello?”

“Hello, this is Professor Charles Xavier calling, we met in California. Happy New Year to you and Mrs. Wyle. I am calling with good news. Excellent news really.”

“Happy New Year to you, it’s after midnight there isn’t it?”

“Yes, Logan proposed to Marie at the White House, in the rose garden to be exact. I wanted to let you know that as soon as I receive the master, I’ll send a copy to you.”

“Lara and I would very much appreciate that. Thank you.”
