Author's Chapter Notes:
Always wanted to write this, just had to find the right audience.
You keep what you kill. Logan couldn’t remember where he had heard it. But every time he did…Marie. She should be dead, killed by him. He’d stabbed her in the chest, waking to a living nightmare. Killed by that fucking machine of Magneto’s that he’d failed to protect her from.

He was watching her now, with her friends. Talking and laughing without a care in the world. But he saw. The smiles she gave never reached her eyes, her laughter hollow. Her eyes were too old for her age, to jaded for the innocence he could smell on her.

But whenever he caught her eye, she would smile. That smile scared the living shit out of him. She could see into him, read him like a book. He was the Wolverine, nothing scared him. Nothing but the Southern Belle he couldn't get out of his system. If he looked deep enough, he would know why. He kept himself from looking, because she‘d killed him as well.
