Your Magneto seems to me more evil than the one in the movies. Movie-Magneto believes in mutant supremacy, yes, and he's done some very bad things, but he's never seemed like a sadist to me, just someone who believes in victory at any cost. But for this story it works.

The tension you're building keeps ratcheting up. It's really going to hurt.

Author's Response: Yeah, it was a little more diabolical. But it never did make sense to me that Magneto was just willing to take it on faith that he could give Rogue exactly enough power to use her but not enough to permanently harm himself. I mean she almost took Logan out in a few seconds, and she put her boyfriend in a coma for three weeks, and yet Magneto is up and bouncing around minutes later. It makes more sense to me that he would try to get a feel for how long her mutation takes to suck someone dry. And if he is willing to sacrifice one innocent young person, it\'s probably not that different to sacrifice two, especially if the second is a \"traitor\".

I like your solution for getting her to go with Scott. Very elegant because it flows organically out of the previous part of the narrative. All of the characterizations are pitch perfect. Nice!

I was worried that she caved a little too easily, but in my mind she knew she was basically incapacitated by our little feral duo in her head, so if it came down to Magneto or the X-geeks, she chose the lesser of two evils. And of course having Bobby to tip the balance helped too. Thanks so much for your reviews!

I love watching Marie make this emotional journey. Your writing is as technically excellent as always; there's some truly elegant language here, but it never detracts from the forward momentum of the story. Two thumbs up. :)

Funny, I didn\'t consider this their first time, I guess since I\'ve already written their first-all-the-way-time and first-all-the-way-feral-time scenes. But it really is a big step forward in their relationship. Glad you felt the payoff was worth it!
