Don't apologize for your characters and what they might do: the sign of a good work of fiction is when the characters take on a life of their own, and the author can barely keep up.
It is when you are surprised by what they do, rather than plotting it, that you become the writer.
Author's Response: That observation about the characters taking on a life of their own is some of the pithiest, most profound advice I\'ve ever read. I swear that soetimes I learn more by reading feedback than I do from reading other fics. Thank you for that.
