Barely Legal Since 2000
Loved it. Fascinating storyline, heartbreaking betrayal. But their reunion was perfect, even with their capture and all. Gorgeous ending, well done!
I really should have paced myself, I only have one more fic of yours to read. I'll take that one slowly...
Just finished reading this story and I'm very impressed! Love what you've done with it! : )
Aaaw, so great. The story was perfect. :D
“Maybe, ‘If you’re close enough to read this, you’re screwed’?’”
hehe, that's great.
Wow, if you read this chapter while listening to Adele's Someone Like You, it makes it even more emotional. ::sniffle::
Another great story! At the rate I'm going, I'm not going to get a good nights sleep but once I start a story, I can't stop. I can't wait to read your prisoner story.
Awwwwwwwww I love a happy ending ^-^
Author's Response: :-D Great minds think alike! And I always guarantee a happy ending. Thanks again for being such an amazing reviewer!
such a great chapter and then 'he' has to appear
Author's Response: Yeah, Magneto is a mood-killer, isn't he? Thanks again for reviewing!
come one Rogue you should know what Wovie feels for you now
Author's Response: She can be a little dense sometimes, huh?
...Always looking over my shoulder, always being alone...”
“Hey,” he interrupted. “You’re not alone.”
“No?”
“No.” He kissed the top of her head. “Not anymore.”
Awwwwwwwwww.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked that! I thought it was pretty close to being too corny, but I couldn't help myself. Logan being sweet and sensitive (even in his gruff way) is just impossible to resist. ;-)
Kissing Marie is good but she'll still be mad as hell for not telling her.
Author's Response: Still yup. ;-) Even madder now!
Ororo 'hurt' Scott's bike... ROFLMAO
Author's Response: I know, you have to think that Logan enjoyed that more than a little. I think he might have even wanted to make Scott do it, if he hadn't thought he might just puncture a tire or something.
oooh she's gonna be so pissed when she finds out
Author's Response: Yup. ;-)
good start.
Author's Response: Oh, bima, again I have to apologize for taking so long to respond to your reviews. I should have set up alerts long ago! Thanks for reviewing this chapter, glad you liked the set-up.
Ahh 5 years – young love!! 21 this year for me and I must be an old romantic cause in the words of skybound2 ‘ I did NOT think that your ending was corny. It was sweet, and soft, and kind of lighthearted etc’ (well she said it so well, I couldn’t improve on it so I stole it!!!)
‘If you’re close enough to read this, you’re screwed’?’ brilliant line!!
Great job! Thoroughly enjoyed reading this – looking forward to your next one x
Author's Response: Aw...happy 21st anniversary! I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks for reviewing, and sorry it took me so long to respond!
Nice! :) And, Happy Anniversary (one month early!).
Author's Response: Glad you liked it! And thanks for the anniversary wishes!
Heh, corny is okay. I enjoyed this story! Thank you so much for writing it. :)
Author's Response: :-D Thanks so much for reviewing! I'm glad you liked it!
Wow, I can't believe I mentioned the adamantium-removal in my last review! How spooky is that? To my knowledge, Wolvie has only had the metal removed once - the adamantium he is bonded with now used to be inside Sabertooth and was put there by Apocalypse when he needed a new Horseman. Phew! Anyway, excellent final chapter and I, for one, enjoyed the 'corny' ending! Incidentally, Happy Anniversary! You are not alone - my husband and I celebrated our own 17th wedding anniversary yesterday!!
Author's Response: Yeah, I was like, "Oops, I better get the last chapter up fast so she doesn't think I stole her idea!" You're right, I was confused...it was removed only once but apparently two different people tried to put it back -- first Cable's son Genesis (unsuccessfully) and then Apocalypse (successfully). I'm glad you liked the chapter, and the ending. Happy anniversary to you guys too!
:) Thanks for finishing this.
I for one, enjoyed it immensely! I loved your "corny" ending. It's not really corny, it's sweet; it's you-y :)
Love,
Tamana
Author's Response: Thanks for reading it! :-D I'm glad you liked it, and I'll take it as a compliment that a sweet ending is me-y. ;-)
VERY believable showdown, and I like that Rogue is the true heroine here. I also like her interaction with Charles... and of course the Happy End makes me happy, too. Perhaps the pace was a bit too rushed overall (especially given how many time you gave the plot to develop during the previous chapters), but still - great storytelling, and a most enjoyable read. Well done!
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it! And that you liked the scene with Charles, it seems to be a standard of my "back-at-the-mansion" tie-up. Last time it was Logan talking to Xavier, so I wanted to have the parallel experience for Marie. I agree about the rushed pace of this finale. I kind of screwed myself in a few different ways. I had promised smut and I wanted Logan and Marie to be fully committed to each other before she has to hurt him, so they did all their relationship-resolving before that last chapter, which left me not much to do in the end. Also, once the adamantium ends up on Magneto's side of the barrier, it's too powerful of a weapon, so I pretty much had to set him on fire to keep him from using it. But then he couldn't wander around on fire for fifteen minutes while I drew out the action and still be okay, so I felt like the intervening fight scene couldn't last too long. Not to mention I wanted the reader to figure out Marie's plan as Logan did so I wanted it to be from his perspective, and that limited me to describing the parts of the action he witnessed. I wrote it, and when I was done I was like, "That was it? How did that all tie up in like five paragraphs?" I thought about adding more layers of bad guys, calling in the X-Team, etc., but it seemed like it would just be padding. So, anyway, there is my overly lengthy apology/excuse. :-D thanks for reviewing!
When I read your summary stating that this was the end of your story, I got a little sad but then excitement raced through me because, hey, it's another chapter LOL!
I read your story again from start to finish, and I must tell you - fantastic writing, fantastic characterization, fantastic protagonist interaction - just FANTASTIC everything! :) Having Marie and Logan swimming playfully in the water (him being free from the tremendous weight of his adamantium-coated skeleton) was perfect and really illustrated to me their relationship.
So Happy anniversary as well to you and your "Wolverine", and again, thanks so much for sharing your story with us! :)
Author's Response: Aw, I know what you mean, I get so sad when I find out a good story is in the last few chapters! Talk about eyeing that side scroll bar.... I'm so honored that you read the story again, and that you liked it the second time around. ;-) I'm glad you liked the ending -- I was expecting at least some flames for keeping Logan adamantium-free. Thanks for the anniversary wishes!
Excellent story from start to finish. And the the corniness of the ending was priceless.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for your review! I'm glad you liked it. I promised a happy ending, so I think a little corniness is pretty much inevitable. :-D
Happy anniversary! And many thanks for finishing up this great story. It's *so* satisfying to have Rogue kickin' some villain butt and riding off into the sunset. And it was interesting to think of Logan as being in better condition after getting rid of all the metal. Good thinking! And feel free to post another story anytime. :)
Author's Response: Aw, thanks! I'm so glad you liked the end. I was worried that Marie wasn't ass-kicking enough...because I really wanted the reader to figure out what Marie's plan was as Logan did I felt I had to write it from his point of view, and then most of Marie's ass-kicking was "off-camera" because Logan was too busy with Mystique to see it! It did take serious chutzpah to strip the metal from Wolverine, though, so in that way I'm glad Marie showed that she would do what she needed to do for them both to survive. Yeah, I can't remember what made me think that Logan would be happier without the metal...I think maybe some fic about how cold he gets. I was tempted to give it back to him fully in the end because it's so much a part of his character, but I settled for just the claws. ;-) I never know if I'm going to write another story or not, but I promise if I do I'll post it here!
*claps* Brava! This was WONDERFUL! I haven't had a lot of time to read lately, and was so happy to get some downtime this evening to do just that, so imagine my (very happy) surprise when I got the end of Chapter 12, and you had gone ahead and posted the conclusion!
I've really enjoyed this fic. I think that you kept a really good balance with Marie in regards to her trust issues, and temper, with the maturity that I sort of expect from someone that has been through what she has. Logan hurt her, but she was able to get past it. And I LOVE that. Great characterization there.
I really enjoyed the scene between 'Bobby' and Pyro as well. It was heartbreaking, and sweet, and I'm glad that he saw the light, as it were ;-P
And I LOVED what you did with Marie being the one to pull the metal from Logan's bones (and YES to giving it back to him on his claws only! As soon as he lost it, I was HOPING that you would take that angle with it, and you did not disappoint! Totally made my night :-D)
And, maybe it's because my 5 year wedding anniversary is next month as well, but I did NOT think that your ending was corny. It was sweet, and soft, and kind of lighthearted, and I think it really reflected what Logan was feeling at the moment with the weight of adamantium lifted from him, and Marie happy in his arms). It had a very tangible effect on me. In fact I'm grinning like a happy loon over here just thinking about it.
Well done!!
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I'm so glad you liked the fic. I'm glad the Bobby/Pyro stuff worked. Yeah, I really struggled with the idea to have Marie strip the metal from Wolverine -- it's such a part of him! Once I decided that was how it had to be, however, I tried to drop enough breadcrumbs in previous chapters to make it plausible that he would be happier without it. And from what I understand from the comicverse, his healing factor does work dramatically better without it. But it had to go back on the claws...he's not Wolverine without the snickety-snick! ;-) I'm glad you liked the ending too. Maybe all June 2006 brides are sentimental in the very best way. :-D Happy anniversary to you too!
