Oh wow. I'm only on chapter 3, but had to stop and review. I'm really loving this story so far. Well, that might be the wrong word. This isn't the kind of story you love. It's the kind you sort of grit your teeth through, then sit back in awe. The character development is so great, and the dialogue and the flashbacks. Um, yes, more please. Perfectly dark and edgy.

God I’m loving this! Pain & loneliness, so much emotion both surface and underlying. Things are beginning – what things? Only you know, but I’m damn sure you got all of us completely hooked and not so patiently waiting to find out the background, the why’s, the how’s, the who did what’s etc. not to mention where the hell are they going from here, how are they gonna get there or even will they get there? Life was so much simpler when I waited for a checked complete button this waiting lark is a killer!
I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you how good this is, but if you do – it is!
Author's Response: Don't go assuming I know ... often I have as little clue as anyone else! I just start from point A, head for point B, and see where the story takes me along the way. Sorry to make you overcome the complete story thing ... this one won't be complete for a while, I suspect. Next update is soon, though.

Author's Response: I'm definitely going to try and do one chapter per week, I promise. Will most likely be uploading on Friday nights or Saturday mornings (Australian time.) You're a champion for letting me know re the italics - when I finish the next chapter I'll go back and put some formatting in. Makes it that bit easier to understand. Thank you!

Oh wow! I am so frakking hooked to this story I almost missed my stop on the train this morning, lol! I am so intrigued with what happened; what made Rogue join the X-Men? How did Logan and Marie part ways? What will happen if and when Logan joins the X-geeks...urh...X-Men? Honestly, there are so many scenarios and scenes running through my head on all the possibilities it has me giddy with anticipation.
Post more real soon, please.
Author's Response: I've done the train thing, too. In fact, I once did it on purpose and walked an extra few blocks to work, just so I could have more reading time! Very chuffed that I can do that for you! A new chapter should be up in the next couple of days - thanks for reviewing!

Author's Response: Not a horrible person ... I will give them a happy ending (I think?) but I do like to make them earn it first ;) I don't think that makes me horrible, just ... mischievous!

Danged if there aren't a bunch of funny writers on this site. I have got to remember that Pepsi and Logan/Rogue fic doesn't mix or my keyboard is screwed.
This is dark and Logan a bit more crude than I like, but the story is a good one and the writing exciting.
So, even though this Logan is not to my liking I will continue to read your fic.
Author's Response: Thank you :D I don't do funny very often, but occasionally a line creeps in that helps lighten the tension a bit ... and I just KNEW that was exactly what Cyclops would be thinking in this scenario! I'm glad I've been able to hook you enough to persevere with Dark!Logan ... perhaps he just needs redemption more than ever?

Woah. Some very impressive psychological exploration is going on here! I didn't expect you to head in this direction with Marie, not at all! I thought most of the ambivalence would be on Logan's side, but look at this! --it's mutual! How very fascinating.
One question: how do the Xmen expect Logan to join them if they tie him up, first thing??
Author's Response: Glad you enjoy the psychobabble; it's one of my favourite things. This is essentially Marie's story, and on the evidence - killer skin, nasty parents, ending up as trainee assassin? There is no way she is going to be a healthy, balanced individual. Re your question: Yup, I'm wondering this too. And I bet Logan is as well :D

This hurt to read, but in a good way that means as a writer you literally made me feel the emotions of the characters you wrote. I’m so sad for Rogue that Logan turned out to be using her. I think it’s interesting that this is different from other stories I’ve read where he molds her to be his perfect mate in that not only is she not happy about it or accepting of it, but he also wasn’t doing out of a nobler intention or emotion (so far, since more will be revealed as the story goes on of course). I do still really like this proud version of Rogue who’s not willing to be lead around and made into something against her will. I’m a little bummed that I don’t like Logan very much right now but that’s ok, because there are more chapters and more to find out!
I really like how you’ve written Scott too, and I like that it’s different from a lot of other stuff I’ve read. I loved how you sprung on the reader that the team had been out of hiding for a while but Rogue and Wolverine hadn’t noticed, I totally didn’t see that coming!
Great chapter, thanks for posting, and I can’t wait for more!
Author's Response: Keep in mind that we have been inside Rogue's head, and not Logan's. So we don't know his motivations, only her interpretation of them. That said, I also wanted to explore the Logan and Rogue who MIGHT have been, if the X-men hadn't come into their lives at that point. So they are much, much darker characters than the norm, and that will probably take us to unfamiliar places. Re the team coming out of hiding, that could as much be continuity error as anything else. I'm writing without a beta for the first time in a while and that might leave holes!

This is really a damn impressive story, even this early in it's obvious that it'll be a hell of a ride. I love the contrast between the here and now, and before, and the slow reveal of WHY Rogue left Logan. And the little flip over to Scott's POV was nicely done as well. It was good to see some of the team's reaction to Rogue's actions!
Still loving this :-D
Author's Response: Thank you - glad you are enjoying it! I think a slow reveal is pretty necessary for an epic, otherwise it becomes all infodump and not enough emotion. Glad you enjoyed Scott ... I'm not sure I've ever written him before, and certainly not as a sympathetic character.

I really like this portrayal of Logan. He seems so...twisted. Is it disturbing that I like his crudeness? Or maybe the way Rogue reacts to him?
I can't find the exact words to describe how I feel about this story, but I know I'm addicted to the intensity. So many things are pulling me in....wow...

Author's Response: *nods happily* I must confess I do have a love of the dark side. It's why I love Wolverine above all - he is not simple or straightforward, he has depths few other characters have. And in this story, we are exploring a Logan who WASN'T rescued by the Xmen, or a sweet, innocent girl. He hasn't had that in his life. So, yes, he is dark. But he is on a journey, too. Thank you for reviewing ... it makes it all worthwhile when people connect with a story. Especially a piece like THIS.
